Unit conversion

01

What the unit converter covers

The converter handles everyday units in six groups: length, weight, volume, temperature, area and speed, between metric and imperial. Beyond plain units, it covers kitchen conversions such as cups to grams and cooked rice and pasta yields, portion and nutrition units, clothing and shoe sizes across EU, US and UK charts, and standard mattress and appliance sizes.

Results update as you type, and you can swap the two units or copy the result. The size guides open on the region that matches your language, and you can switch between US, EU and UK. All conversion tables are built into the page, so the converter works entirely in your browser.

Unit converter FAQ

How many grams are in a cup?
It depends on the ingredient, because a cup measures volume: one US cup is about 237 ml. In the converter, a cup of all-purpose flour is 125 g, white sugar 200 g, butter 227 g and honey 340 g. A cup of uncooked rice is about 185 g and makes about 3 cups cooked for white rice, or 2.5 cups for brown rice.
How do EU, US and UK clothing sizes compare?
In the converter's charts, a women's US shirt size S is EU 34 and UK 8, and a men's US shirt size M is EU 48 and UK 38. A men's trouser size 32 is the same in the US and UK, and EU 48. A US men's shoe size 9 is EU 42 and UK 8.5. Brands vary, so check their own chart too.
Is a US queen mattress the same as a European queen?
No. A US queen is 152 × 203 cm, or 60 × 80 inches, while the converter's EU queen is 160 × 200 cm. A US king is 193 × 203 cm, wider than a typical EU king at 180 × 200 cm. UK sizes differ again: a UK king is 150 × 200 cm, close to a US queen in width.
Does the converter send my values anywhere?
No. All conversion tables are built into the page, and the math runs in your browser. The values you type are not sent to a server or stored. The site counts anonymous page views, which do not include anything you enter.
